How long does it take to build a home?

This is one of the most common questions we get, and understandably so. The timeline for building a new home can vary widely, but for most luxury builders, you can expect the process to take anywhere from 8 to 12 months. However, it's important to note that this timeline typically refers to the actual construction phase, and does not include the architectural design and permitting process, which can take anywhere from 30 to 120 days. If you're starting with an existing design, the plans may be finalized faster. But if you’re customizing your home from the ground up, this can take longer as every detail needs to be perfectly aligned with your vision. 

 

Several factors influence how long the process will take:

 

Builder Capacity: Some builders may be able to complete your home more quickly due to their established team of subcontractors and internal systems.


Material Availability: Supply chain disruptions, which became more common during the pandemic, can still cause delays in getting the materials needed for your home. Builders who maintain strong relationships with their suppliers and have in-house resources often have a more streamlined process.


Home Complexity: Larger, more complex homes with custom features or designs will naturally take longer to build.
